DogBoy’s Dog Ranch } Austin, Texas Pet Photographer

DogBoy’s Dog Ranch is a fabulous 15 acre doggie ranch heaven in Pflugerville. Owned by Bart (aka – DogBoy) and Courtney (aka – DogGirl) Emken, DogBoy’s Dog Ranch has been in business for 15 years and they recently celebrated a new addition to the ranch. The DogBoy’s Training and Wellness Center had its grand opening on January 30th and it was a huge success. There were facility tours and demonstrations featuring canine massage, canine good citizen, rally and tricks.

Personally, I have to say that I was just beyond impressed by the new Training and Wellness Center and all they had to offer. The Canine Massage demo was not only informative but heartfelt because you really got a sense of how important it is to give your dog the best quality of life that you can. That’s what this new facility and their services are all about and I highly suggest you check them out. I also went on a tour of the facility with DogGirl and I was really blown away by how much care and attention goes into the DogBoy’s experience.

Another exciting announcement was also made, as if all that wasn’t enough. DogBoy’s has teamed up with The Austin Humane Society to offer its services to their shelter dogs. Each week, DogBoy’s will host AHS dogs in their facility and they will provide them care, training and fun! DogBoy’s deserves a big congrats for opening up their facility to better the lives of the AHS shelter dogs.

Bacchus, Paige and Betty } Austin Texas Pet Photographer

Last November I attended the 21st Annual Gala for the Central Texas SPCA, where I was named their Animal Advocate of the Year. I donated a session for the CTSPCA auction at the event and was super excited that their social marketing guru, Susan, was the winner. Susan does amazing things for the CTSPCA and works really hard to get the word out. You can find out the latest CTSPCA news by following them on Twitter and becoming a fan on Facebook.

Susan has three fabulous dogs – Bacchus, Paige and Betty. They are lovingly called her “swine” and they were a delight to photograph. Susan’s husband, Joe, and her children also made an appearance. I have to say that her kids were so very sweet. I loved capturing their connection with each of the pups.

Thank you Susan and family for a lovely shoot.

Bianca - I found your Blog a few weeks ago and absolutely love your work! You really capture the dogs’ spirits. Looking forward to new shoots and dogs (:

Forever friends } Austin, Texas Pet Photographer

In case you haven’t heard (because I figure I’ve told just about everyone) I was deemed the “Most Awesome-ist” pet photographer in Austin by the Austin Pets Directory’sMost Awesome-ist” poll for all things pet! So, many great businesses were selected and it’s really an awesome honor. I can’t thank all of those who voted enough… really… thank you!!

Now let’s talk about two of the cutest pup pals I have ever seen. Feast your eyes on these forever friends. Say “hello” to Duke and China! These two had me grinning from ear to ear the entire time I was shooting. I honestly could not stop smiling and laughing and giggling. Supposedly they weren’t always this chummy but you would never know it by looking at these pictures. I will say that we had to set-up a few of these shots – I think you will know them when you see them. Duke and China were clearly not going to “snuggle” on cue even though I was informed that they do snuggle and love on one another all the time. These images were a surprise for their dad and there’s no doubt he was clearly surprised.

In case you haven’t guessed Duke is the adorable Boxer and China is the cutie Pug.

Hmmm… I don’t know what’s going on there.

Posed but I hear this happens for real all the time.

Stephanie - Congrats Ms. Awesome-ist. I totally dig this new word and plan on using it mucho :)

Three peas in a pod } Austin, Texas Pet Photographer

These three happy-go-lucky pups welcomed me right into their home and weren’t shy with the lovin’. Addikus, a 9 year old Siberian Husky is handsome, charming and makes the most unusual howling sounds. It almost sounds like he’s trying to talk to you. Jackson, a 8 year old Australian Shepard is sweet, gentle and uncle to Bindi. Bindi is the baby of the house and at 9 months old she was all puppy and totally ADORABLE! This super cute trio are nice enough to share their home with their equally awesome parents, Cris and Amy. I had a fantastic time getting to know each of these lovely pups and capturing a day in their life. Thanks to Cris, Amy and their sweet pups for an amazing session.

New year = New site! } Austin, Texas Pet Photographer

Happy New Year!!! Here we are… 2010!! Seems so very futuristic to say 2010. I can remember thinking, as a kid, that 2010 would be the year of flying cars and people living in space… ha! Now I look at 2010 and am already projecting what 2020 will look like. Maybe we’ll have flying cars then? Wheeeee!!!

It’s hard to believe that I’ve only had my photography business for a little under two years.  SO very much has happened and I’m SO very thankful to be doing what I love. It’s been an amazing ride and I’m definitely strapped in and ready for another fabulous and fast paced year ahead.

One of my first goals of 2010 was to update my website. I loved my old website format but it had it’s limitations and I was ready for something new. I am very happy and pleased to announce that my new website is up and ready to go! I hope you will check it out, browse around and leave me your feedback. Constructive feedback is always welcome as I want to make nicolemlakarphotography.com be the best that it can be! Here’s to a new year, a new site and many more new goodies to come! I wish you all much success and happiness in this new year.

Susan – HauteDog magazine - The website is wonderful. A knee-weakening emotion is represented with your talent for capturing ’spirit’ of all creatures. There is nothing you can’t achieve, with focus and passion. Here’s to a phenomenal 2010!

Suzanne - I love the new web site!! Looks great, easy to navigate!

Candace - quick FYI, on my mac at home, works great. Wow! I absolutely love it! So clean and fresh, leaving all the attention for the photos. Huge fan!

Danielle - LOVE IT!! Looks wonderful!

Candace - Love it! On my work computer I can’t view the whole image, or the thumbnails, so I’m excited to go home on my computer, but I love it, congrats!

Grace - It looks AMAZING!!!!!! Congrats!!!
